TransPRK

This technique is very similar to the LASEK or PRK technique, but the epithelial layer is removed by the laser itself (“no-touch” technique).

The advantages are less pain, as only the area needed for the correction is opened, and the possibility to use the epithelium as a masking agent (e.g. in irregular corneas). This technique is only needed in special cases and is not recommended in standard cases (especially not in low corrections). The results are similar to LASEK/PRK results.
