If you suffer from recurrent erosions, therapy might be necessary. Often, lubricating drops/ointment or a bandage contact lens for several weeks improves the condition. If this is not successful, more invasive therapies are needed. Best results are achieved by performing an Excimer Laser treatment (PTK=phototherapeutic keratectomy). This treatment is fast and painless. The surface layer is removed by the laser and the superficial layer of the stroma is polished by the laser. This guarantees better attachments to the epithelial layer and comes with a recurrence rate of only 5%.
